Our eco-friendly activity

One of Gaigosai Festival's charms is foods from all over the world.

However, what always comes out when you cook them or eat is garbage. The Gaigosai committee has been working very hard to cope with this environmental problem, and to decrease the amount of garbage as much as possible, aiming to realize an eco-friendly campus festival.

Strong cooperation

During Gaigosai, several garbage stations will be placed around campus. These garbage stations will collect garbage and help the festival visitors sort their trash. Cooperation from TUFS students and visitors is crucial to make the Gaigosai Festival eco-friendly. We look forward to your continued support.

●Easy-to-separate Re-repack(リ・リパック)

Gaigosai committee strongly recommends Re-repack,a recycling container. It is used by many exotic food stalls and booths. After finished eating, users can peel off the film on the surface of the container. The film is combustible, and the rest will be recycled at the factory. By making full use of Re-repack, we can reduce garbages and save water.

What's Re-repack?Re-repack is a recyclable food container made and sold by Yokota Tohoku Ltd. By peeling off the film inside of the container, the food container can be used again, even if it was made dirty by eating food. The film is combustible, and the rest will be collected to a factory. After being re-processed, the clean container will be recycled into food containers. (No problem with hygiene;new material will be used for the touched parts and layers right below the film.)

●Campus oil recycling system: Generating energy from oil used to cook deep-fried food●

Under this system, all cooking oil used in the Gaigosai Festival will be collected, recycled into vegetable diesel fuel, and will be used as energy in the next year's festival. In the 90th Gaigosai Festival, we reduced about 1556kg of CO2. This equals to the amount of CO2 which cedar absorbs in a single year!
